Recently the concept of "landscape" has been
discussed in many different countries by people from many different fields. For
example, the idea of creating "a place", not a mere accumulation of individual
buildings, has become one of the main concerns in urban planning projects.
This symposium examined diverse problems in contemporary cities, presented some
of the latest, most important landscape projects in the world, reinterpreted and
redefined landscape, and explored the relevant significance of landscape in contemporary
cities from various angles, as well as its possibilities in the future.
The speakers of the symposium include landscape architects, architects, artists
and critics from Europe and Japan.
