AEDES, since its establishment in 1980, has been well-known
to the world for its unique highly, energetic activities on the initiative of
Kristin Feireiss, and has always had the initiative in discussions and debates
about architecture in the city. Because of significant activities planned from
a critical perspective responsive to changes in society, AEDES has become something
more than a mere architectural gallery and has been now regarded as one of the
most important places in the world for those interested in discussions and debates
about architecture and urbanism. In this lecture, Kristin Feireiss, from her journalistic
perspective, talked about the status quo of city planning in Berlin, and the role
of and possibilities for architectural museums/galleries. Through her career of
managing museums and galleries, she has always emphasized the importance of contact
and communication between architecture and society. She suggested not only how
architectural museums/galleries should be managed but also what roles architecture
should play in the future. |

modernist architects in Italy. His projects have been regarded as important landmarks
not only in the history of modern Italy, but also in the history of world architecture.
The symposium shed new light on Modernism through focusing on Terragni as the
standard-bearer of Italian Rationalism and on his historical background in order
to gain a fresh insight into today's architecture. |
Lecture "Ben van Berkel: Recent Works: The new social mediated space"

aspects of city planning and architecture. |
