Today's cities are mutating. Presenting a wealth
of new facts about cities, this exhibition focuses on new forces that have started
to appear in cities around the world, phenomena emerging in the fringes of European cities that the
traditional map of Europe, the extreme forms found in modern American cities,
positive tales from Tokyo, and the invisible sounds and smells of cities. Via
these new perspectives, we glimpse the shape of the city in an era of constant
change.
"Mutations" is the traveling exhibition that opened in the autumn of
the year 2000 at the arc en reve centre d'architecture in the city of Bordeaux
in France. The exhibition itself has, however, mutated to become this Tokyo version.
* This exhibition is linked to the lecture series "New
Urban Conditions".
