Sendai Mediateque is the integration of the answers to the various challenges Toyo Ito has dealt with throughout the nineties. With this highly experimental piece of architecture, Ito pursues the desired state of architecture in a society based on electronic media.
This exhibition sought to introduce the concept of "Blurring Architecture" conceived by Ito through Sendai Mediateque and offer a new perspective on architecture. It centered on a visual presentation with which visitors were able to experience the concept of "simulation", the core theme of Sendai Mediateque.

"The Blurring Architecture" undermines the conventional definition of architecture.
What I am trying to do is to blur the discipline of architecture by having two different kinds of architecture take place concurrently; one revealing its material nature thoroughly, and the other creating a space made purely from symbols.
One day, the building will be completed and opened. The brand-new, inviting-looking building will probably fit naturally in the urban contexts.
I would like you to remember at that time, however, that there were thousands of days of our blurring architecture behind it. This is what "the Blurring Architecture" means.
