Dominique Perrault's approach
to architecture does not focus on designing buildings as independent elements.
He is more interested in the relationships between buildings and surrounding environments.
In this sense, his approach is more like that of landscape architects. To him,
the forms of buildings are mere elements. The organization of various elements
as a whole is much more important.
"Nature" does not always mean things like "trees" or "flowers" to Perrault. He
treats architecture and nature alike as elements making up the city, and pursues
beautiful relationships between all elements by interpreting a message from them.
This exhibition will showcase his approach of going beyond the conventional notion
of architecture, that is following a new direction to urbanism, through his recent
six projects.
