MoMA has always been an important
global art trend setter. It has produced a large number of great artists of the
20th century. The museum's major expansion and renovation project for the 21st
century started with a large-scale design competition. Ten architects throughout
the world were invited to the preliminary session of the competition (the charrette).
This exhibition showed the response of the ten architects to the Museum's question,
("how museums of contemporary art should be in the 21st century") as well as the
processes of its expansion and innovation project.
