From the 1980s to the present day, the consistently unique designs of architect Shin Takamatsu have radiated a striking message. The exhibition, which is based on his latest creation, an office building, will introduce the efforts and proposals made by Takamatsu to avoid the traditional overemphasis on functionality in office spaces. It will also discuss his answers to various issues, following the trail of his thoughts through the design process. Focus will be placed on the details of the space as a means of deciphering Mr. Takamatsu's new theory of office spaces. The exhibition is an attempt to formulate and express a new type of display, on capable of deciphering the spatial character of the building as a whole from a microscopic standpoint. In turn, this exhaustive probe of a single building and clarification of the design process represents a new departure from previous styles of exhibitions for Shin Takamatsu himself.
