HRH The Prince of Wales has been
well-known as an outspoken critic of modern architecture since he expressed some
doubts about modern urban planning and architectural designs in BBC's program
"A Vision of Britain" and the book by the same title in 1988. His statements advocating
the restoration of humanity and order in the city and architecture have created
a stir among architects throughout the world and influenced the public.
This exhibition was Japan's first opportunity to present Prince Charles' vision for the environment and various projects reflecting it, together with several of his watercolor paintings that epitomize his aestheticism. It was intended to make visitors ask themselves what a truly beautiful, comfortable-to-live-in city is like".
