Public space in New York City constantly changes with the activities carried out
there.
This exhibition, in close collaboration with Columbia University which has been
reputed for its years of research and deep insight into urbanism, explored public
space as an indispensable element of an attractive city in terms of not only architecture,
but also what people do there. It offered an inspiring perspective of urban planning
for the future, and discussed the role of municipal governments.
The exhibition featured a wide spectrum of approaches to public space, and showed
how the characteristics of various sites could be utilized to instill new life
in new or existing public space.
